Birmingham-based secondary school Erdington Academy and Jaguar Land Rover have announced a new partnership which will aim to support students with preparing for future careers.
As a member of the Business in the Community (BITC) scheme which partly focuses on helping students to make the most of their potential, the car manufacturer has joined forces with the Fairfax Multi-Academy Trust (FMAT) school to advise on how to construct a strong job application, offer the opportunity to take part in a ‘buddy’ scheme within the manufacturing industry, and learn about Jaguar Land Rover career opportunities.
Mark Rhatigan, executive head teacher said: “At Erdington Academy our focus is not only on improving academic standards, but it is also on delivering innovative initiatives to help focus their minds on their future and raise their aspirations.
“We are grateful to Jaguar Land Rover for opening the doors of their Castle Bromwich site to us and providing our students with an incredible experience and opportunities. The support from the wider community, including this partnership with Jaguar Land Rover, is instrumental in assisting Erdington Academy as we continue on our journey of transformation.”
The partnership will see a reading programme launched to support students who have English as an additional language, while Jaguar Land Rover will also hold events at the school to raise awareness of its programmes such as ‘Young Women In The Know’ and its Advanced Apprenticeship scheme.
