Bishops Tachbrook Primary in Leamington Spa approached TG Escapes for a bespoke design modular eco building having seen the building at Sacred Heart School nearby. They were impressed by the design, feel and finish.

They had a rapidly growing Breakfast and After School Club which put a lot of pressure on the existing school hall. So they wanted a unique separate space for the After School Club which could also be used by the school during the day.

TG Escapes designed a building which could provide this flexibility with a large room, toilets and kitchen. In addition, the school wanted to create a viewing platform for sports activities taking place in the playground. This was achieved with an extended decking area.

During the process the TG Escapes worked closely with the school to adapt elements of the building and solve problems on site. For example in one area water was pooling which would have hindered access to the ramp. TGE fixed the drainage problem and added extra paving to the scheme. During construction and discussion with the school, the team identified an opportunity to further enhance the building by providing a seating area on the decking. The flexible process meant that this could be incorporated into the design with ease.

Andy Bretell, Headteacher, says: “The overall responsibility for everyone’s H&S falls to the Head in this school and so working with a company who understand schools and take safety and safeguarding so seriously was a breath of fresh air. With previous projects, I often had to chase the contractors to ensure they kept tools safe on site/ signed in correctly/ spoke courteously/ locked up the site properly etc. NONE of this was an issue at all with TG Escapes. I can honestly say that every single member of the team involved during the two month build showed absolute awareness of the importance of safety at all times. Then there is the quality and the finish: TG Escapes have been attentive to our needs throughout the project, finding solutions along the way to ensure we achieved everything we wanted to. Everyone involved was fantastic to work with. TG Escapes really understand the needs of schools and it was never a problem having them on our working school site in term time.”
