A new mobile app is aiming to minimise the amount of admin involved in organising school trips.

Described as the first ‘digital school trip management system’, Travelopia’s Toolkit is designed to eliminate the stress involved in trip management.

Accessible from any device, the app lets teachers upload and personalise their trip with custom photos, videos and itineries, adding extras such as meals or activities. Parents can then register their interest, track payments and upload a child’s dietary requirements or passport information through their mobile, tablet or laptop.

The app includes the option to send payment reminders to parents, and with a two-step verification process, the data transfer is ensured to be safe.

Pate’s Grammar School, Cheltenham, was among the first to trial the new platform, with Maths teacher Alex Derbyshire describing the app as “an absolute boon.”

“It gives me complete peace of mind,” said Mr Derbyshire, adding that parents “sighed with relief,” when they learned they could communicate directly with the teachers, as “they would no longer have to rely on their children to be the rather unreliable vehicle of communication for letters home from the school.”
