Education workers have one of the highest rates of mental health issues

The education industry has one the highest rates of mental-health-related workplace illnesses, as well as decreasing rates of annual leave – as data shows 10% drop in days taken in recent years.
According to Mental Health UK, annual leave is essential for promoting and maintaining good physical and mental health among employees.
The money.co.uk business insurance team analysed injury and illness rates for workers across UK industries from the last 3 years to reveal the industries with the highest rates of workplace illnesses due to mental health.

Education ranked as the industry with the third highest rate of illness from stress, depression or anxiety, at a rate of 2,720per 100,000 workers over the last 3 years.

According to research by PeopleHR, the education industry also saw a 9.75% decrease in annual leave days taken over the last 3 years.

Education ranked as the 6th riskiest UK industry overall, with a score of 5.22/10 based on rates of workplace injuries and illnesses – including one of the highest rates of mental health issues.
