According to new research from the Department for Education (DfE), the number of young girls suffering with psychological distress is rapidly increasing due to the constant use of social media and mobile phones.
The study – which compared the experiences and attitudes of 30,000 14 year-old boys and girls in 2005 and 2014 – revealed that more and more teens feel they are not in control of their futures, and even pinpoints the rising issues among those growing up in single-parent families. With this said, the report did highlight the substantial number of young people becoming engaged with school life and are likely to attend university.
