Shaun Wallace
The Dark Destroyer from The Chase 

“A Candid Look at My Journey in the Education Sector: The Highs, Lows, and Lighter Moments”

BIO

Shaun Wallace is best known for being The Dark Destroyer on the TV quiz show The Chase (2009-). His TV quizzing started in 2004 when he appeared on Mastermind, and since then he has appeared on a number of high-profile shows including Countdown (2019), Catchphrase (2019), and The Weakest Link (2001).

Alongside his quizzing, Shaun is a barrister at Great James Street Chambers, having been called to the Bar in 1984. He has taken part in hearings at the Old Bailey, and at several magistrates’ courts in England, Wales, and Scotland. He is also a member of the South Eastern Criminal Bar Association. Owing to his heritage, he has been a member of the Jamaican Bar since 1999.

Alongside his TV exploits, he is an active keynote speaker, especially in the area of social enterprise and education aimed at inspiring young disadvantaged audiences to fulfil their dreams. He is often hired to speak at Black History Month events where he offers up his own experience with racism.

Ed Fairfield is an advocate for the essential role technology has to play for everyone in education Ed also speaks about the human aspects of technology – how relationships, understanding, sharing and empathising are key to its success. Ed is Vice Chair of Naace – the EdTech Association – a charity supporting schools on effective use of technology and home of the EdTech Review Framework. Ed is also Commercial Director at Elementary Technology, helping schools with Planning, Choosing, Buying and Using technology. In his spare time, Ed is a family man as well as a primary school governor overseeing IT, and staff wellbeing.

Technology leader, and Fellow of the British Computer Society, Mike Lloyd’s passion is to democratise Deep Tech. In September 2013 Mike founded learn-tech.io, a London-based technology company, to build learning solutions focussed on AI, Internet of Things, and sustainability. learn-tech.io works internationally with a wide range of organisations including Microsoft, Pearson, and The British Council. After starting his career in engineering, Mike spent 10 years teaching. He then worked for Microsoft for 14 years in a senior role in the Worldwide Education Group before founding learn.tech.io. Mike is the author of “Schooling at the Speed of Thought” – a guide to transforming education with technology.
