Shaun Wallace
The Dark Destroyer from The Chase 

“A Candid Look at My Journey in the Education Sector: The Highs, Lows, and Lighter Moments”

BIO

Shaun Wallace is best known for being The Dark Destroyer on the TV quiz show The Chase (2009-). His TV quizzing started in 2004 when he appeared on Mastermind, and since then he has appeared on a number of high-profile shows including Countdown (2019), Catchphrase (2019), and The Weakest Link (2001).

Alongside his quizzing, Shaun is a barrister at Great James Street Chambers, having been called to the Bar in 1984. He has taken part in hearings at the Old Bailey, and at several magistrates’ courts in England, Wales, and Scotland. He is also a member of the South Eastern Criminal Bar Association. Owing to his heritage, he has been a member of the Jamaican Bar since 1999.

Alongside his TV exploits, he is an active keynote speaker, especially in the area of social enterprise and education aimed at inspiring young disadvantaged audiences to fulfil their dreams. He is often hired to speak at Black History Month events where he offers up his own experience with racism.

BIO

James is a qualified teacher with extensive experience across both primary and secondary education. He spent three years as one of His Majesty’s Inspectors, during which he also served as a Regional Trainer. Prior to joining Ofsted, James held senior director-level roles in two different multi-academy trusts. He has also been a successful headteacher, appointed through the former Talented Leaders programme. In addition to continuing his work in inspection, James now works as an educational consultant, providing specialist coaching support to a variety of schools and trusts. In his spare time, James coaches football at EJA level.

Faye McGuiness

BIO

Faye McGuinness is Director of Programmes at Education Support, the mental health and wellbeing charity for the education workforce across the UK.  She is responsible for the development and delivery of programmes and services aimed at improving the mental health and wellbeing of the education workforce.

Since 2020 Faye has led Education Support’s Professional Supervision services across England and Wales. She holds oversight of service delivery, quality assurance and impact. 

Most of Faye’s career has been spent working within the third sector, predominately with a focus on workplace health and wellbeing. This work has focussed on supporting individuals at work to prioritise their own mental health and wellbeing as well as working with employers across the public, private and third sector to cultivate cultures that priorities staff mental health and wellbeing.
